From Barry Gaines who sent us this photograph in 2014:
My Father’s name is Frederick Gaines and my Uncle was Syd Cudd (both in the above photograph)
My father lived in the cottages now referred to as the coast guard cottages at Prawle Point; his father, Mark Gaines, was posted there in around 1930. My father stayed after his father had been posted away working at Maelcombe house and looking after his Aunt who was badly hurt during a raid on Kingsbridge. Click here to read his memories of looking after Auntie.
My Uncle married my Aunt Phyllis; along with his brother Carol they established Kimberly Nurseries in Slapton. My cousin Derek Cudd still lives in Slapton.
