The Ash Park Trio in St Sylvester’s Church on 21 August 2019

This was a very exciting evening as a pilot event for the National Heritage Lottery grant application. There were 165 people in the Church and it was an extraordinarily wonderful evening. We were able to raise just over £2,000 from the evening. We have had many comments for feedback to the lottery but perhaps one of the best is:

Last night we were certainly treated to a concert of the very highest calibre in a setting that suited it perfectly. An event, that because of our community’s location and social make up, would have been out of the reach of many if they had needed to travel to a concert hall in London in order to experience it. How fortunate we are to have such a perfect venue in our midst that enabled us to take up the very generous offer of the musicians to play for us.

The trio consisted of Chris Vanderspar, principal cellist at the Royal Opera House, his sister Fiona, violinist at the New York Philarmonic Orchestra and Helen Ireland at the piano.
